I want to share a few resources with you.
There is a lot of information about pruning out in the world. These are a few of my go-to resources that you may not know about.
Aesthetic Pruning
Here is a link for the Aesthetic Pruners Association. I am a co-founder, Past President, Vice President and currently serve on various committees. Of course I think this is a fabulous organization. The membership resources are amazing and if you are a professional looking to communicate your skill and commitment then you should become an APA Certified Aesthetic Pruner®.
I have compiled a playlist of videos from some of my favorite aesthetic pruning teachers including Dennis Makishima and Michael Alliger as well as videos about aesthetic pruning produced by Peralta Colleges (Merritt College is a part of Peralta)
The North American Japanese Garden Association
Many people are introduced to pruning via a visit to a Japanese garden. If this sounds like you then you should definitely check out the North American Japanese Garden Association (NAJGA). NAJGA is a well rounded resource and an amazing community for all things Japanese garden, including a world Japanese Garden database and in-person workshops.
