This newslette will flow with the seasons. That means my writting will ebb and flow with my pruning schedules. Sometimes I will spend most of my time outdoors (I am guessing you will too!) and sometimes I will be inside gathering interesting information and feeding my curiosity. Thoughtful randomness may occur. Themes wil include design, curiosity and wonder.

Tips on pruning various types of trees such as Japanese Maples, dwarf conifers, and small shrubs.
Observations on design in trees.

A little about me and Lewocks Tree Studio

I am an APA Certified Aesthetic Pruner® and registered architect. I started a business pruning small trees and shrubs in 2005. In 2023 Lewocks Tree Studio was conceived as a home for online classes, speaking, workshops and training. Lewocks is a mashup of my family's last names. Just like my pruning is a mashup of design and horticulture.

I received my aesthetic pruning training at the Merritt College Horticulture department in Oakland CA. This program was started by Dennis Makishima over 30 years ago!
